DEROSA, E. Des. -- Fresh off her surprising win in East Deschire's governor's race, Val Hennemott has nominated two of her former Federal Senate colleagues for prominent cabinet positions.
On Tuesday, Hennemott (N) nominated Allison Sweeten to serve as her Secretary of Social Services.
A Nationalist from Bridgeworth, Sweeten previously served as a senator from 2012 until she was ousted in the December 2018 election, defeated by Conservative firebrand Nancy Lindselli.
Hennemott also nominated former Conservative Senator Denna Halitz for Secretary of Agriculture.
Halitz, from Christen-Kerr, served in the Senate from 2009-2014, and ran for Sweeten's Senate seat in 2018 but was defeated in the Conservative primary by Lindselli.
The two young women senators from opposite parties have clashed through the years over policy differences, with Halitz only months ago calling Sweeten "dangerous" and Sweeten chastising Halitz as out-of-touch with the middle class.
But the two former foes will now have to put their differences aside as they work jointly for their new boss and colleague Val Hennemott, who has promised a state government that "works for the people."
Both nominees are expected to be confirmed by the East Deschire state senate.
